Firstly, on March 12th Hotmail started having issues with logins. Turned out they had some sort of incident as covered here:

Then one day later Yahoo did almost the same thing. Unfortunately this blog post was the best I could find:

Strange indeed.

Would it be possible to get a direct-to-Peek sanity message stating that “there’s some technical difficulties right now, but we’ll keep trying!” if I try to send something from my Peek when Hotmail/Yahoo/SomeOtherMail is down for situations like this?
This way, an instant reply would let me know to call my wife to say that we should have pizza for dinner instead of hoping that my text msg went through.

For any of you here today who aren’t regular Peeksters then let me tell you about the kharma of blogging about other’s woes… we had a full outage for 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Well actually it was our underlying provider, Qualcomm, who said their core network providers somewhere had a major outage.

I like the way you guys are open to taking and incorporating the ideas from your users. Very refreshing.
